Details:good deals on Thinkpad notebook computers
(expired)

Good deals on IBM/Lenovo Notebook Computers are pretty rare, and this deal expires tomorrow. Thinkpad notebooks usually cost $200 to $300 more than comparable notebooks from Dell, Toshiba, and other vendors. Many companies use Thinkpads because of their superior reliability record, durability, and good support.

Our philisophy is, if you want a durable laptop which can handle a lot of traveling and don't mind spending more money, look into a Thinkpad. If you want a laptop for use mainly using at home and for easy travel destinations (like coffee shops and within an office) Dell may be a better value.

Coupon code employee48hour gives 15% off of T series with 15" screens and most X series notebooks, in addition to other promotions available on their site. To see all their notebook deals available, click here.

Examples of some good deals:
  • Thinkpad T60 15" Widescreen with Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 1.66GHz processor, Windows Vista Premium, 15" widescreen, 1GB PC2-5300 DDR2 667MHz 1 DIMM, 80GB hard drive, CD&DVD Burner, Intel Pro Wireless, 6-cell battery, 1 year warranty for $1010 with free shipping, after code employee48hour.
  • Thinkpad T60 15" Widescreen with Intel Core 2 Duo T5600 1.83GHz processor, Windows Vista Business, ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 128MB graphics, 1GB PC2-5300 DDR2 667MHz 1 DIMM, 120GB hard drive, CD&DVD Burner, Intel Pro Wireless, 6-cell battery, 1 year warranty for $1205 with free shipping, after code employee48hour.
  • Thinkpad X60 12" with Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 1.66GHz processor, Windows Vista Premium, 512MB memory, integrated fingerprint reader, 80GB hard drive, Intel Pro Wireless, 8-cell battery, 1 year warranty for $1066 with free shipping, after code employee48hour.
  • Thinkpad X60 Tablet 12" with Intel Core Duo L2400, Windows Vista Business, 1GB PC2-5300 667MHz 1 DIMM, 80GB hard drive, Intel Pro Wireless, 8-cell battery, 1 year warranty for $1419 with free shipping, after code employee48hour.
In the above example T60 and X60 Tablet configurations, we specified 1GB memory using "1 DIMM" module, instead of the default option of 1GB with "2 DIMM" modules. While it costs $10 more for "1 DIMM", it can save you a lot of money later because it leaves one memory slot free. If you ever want to upgrade from 1GB to 2GB, you can easily add a second 1GB module yourself. If you specify their default of 1GB using "2 DIMM" modules (512MB each), upgrading to 2GB will require replacing both modules and cost more money.

If you want both a 6-cell and a 9-cell battery for a T series notebook, you can save money by configuring the computer with a 6-cell on the first configuration page of the laptop, then add an extra 9-cell on the second configuration page. If you specify a 9-cell on the first page and a 6-cell on the second page, it costs a total of $44 more.

A depot warranty means they arrange to pick up your notebook, fix it at their location, and bring it back to you. An onsite warranty means they bring all necessary parts to your location and try to fix it on-site.

The "Intel Pro Wireless" option may cost just a few dollars more, but will provide better reception and software for accessing wireless networks.

Business users may want to consider upgrading Vista Premium to Vista Business which can cost up to $30 more, because it would cost over $100 to upgrade later.

Smaller screens are lighter and have longer battery time.

Compared to Dell notebooks, such as a Inspiron 6400, an above Thinkpad costs about $200 to $300 more in a similar configuration. But if you prefer Thinkpads, this is a pretty good deal.
